The Town of Olive offers the residents of the township three parks located throughout the town. These parks are located in the hamlets of Olivebridge, Shokan and West Shokan.

Park Pavilion Rental

Residents may also reserve a park pavilion for a fee for a family picnic, wedding or other special occasions. The pavilions include picnic tables, outdoor cooking grills, electric and access to bathroom facilities.

Recreation Program

The Town of Olive Recreation Department offers a variety of fun-filled activities for residents of the Town. Town sponsored programs include youth baseball, soccer and basketball, and a six-week Summer Day Camp held during the summer months.

Also offered to our adult residents are softball, volleyball/basketball and a senior arts program.

Recreation Programs - Youth

Summer Rec Youth Program

The Town of Olive Day Camp is available to children that have completed kindergarten up to and including the age of 14 whose parents or legal guardian reside, own property, or own a business in the Town of Olive. The camp operates during the months of July and August Monday through Thursday from 10am until
3pm.

Children are monitored and supervised by a staff of 20 counselors. The Olive Day Camp operates at Davis Park in West Shokan, N.Y. which has a modern playground, bathrooms, a junior Olympic swimming pool and plenty of space for other recreational activities. The Day Camp offers various activities throughout the day including but not limited to Arts and Crafts, board games, field games, organized sport activities and entertainment. Busing is provided for children living outside the immediate West Shokan area.

There are adult softball leagues. The program begins in mid-May and concludes in mid-September. A yearly sponsorship fee per team is required.

This program runs November through March and is conducted at the Onteora Junior-Senior High School in Boiceville.

Some supplies provided: oil and acrylic paints, tarps and brushes. There may be a small fee charged for canvas. Experienced or no Experience. Come for instructions or work on your own. This is a fun class with lots of laughter.

Town of Olive Pool

The swimming pool, accompanied with changing and shower facilities, is located at Lester S. Davis Park in West Shokan. The pool facility operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day pending good weather and staffing. It is open to all Town of Olive residents and their guests. Seasonal or day passes are available at the pool lobby.

The Pool is closed to the public during the Summer Day Camp Program hours of operation.

Contact Pool personnel at 845-657-6373 for hours of operation, swimming programs, and admittance costs.

Pool Rates:

The Town of Olive pool is open for Olive residents and their guests only, proof of residency is required.

*Short Term renters must provide a letter from the home owner to validate residency for daily use fee. Property owners of short term rentals may purchase a season pass for their guests, see rate below.

Resident children (under 14) $2.00

Guests $5.00 (Resident must accompany guests)

Seasonal Residents $10.00

Season Pass (Residents only)

-Family Rate: $100.00

Family, for a pool season pass, is defined as no more than two parents/guardians residing at the same address together, and their children below the age of 21. A family, in this case, does not include extended family members such as grandparents, their adult children and spouses, grandchildren, and cousins; these are considered to be separate families.

-Family Senior Citizen, 65+: $80.00

-Individual: $50.00

-Senior Citizen, 65+: $40.00

 

-Short Term Rental Property Owners: $500.00

The Town of Olive Recreation Committee serves in a volunteer capacity and is appointed by the Supervisor. They oversee all Town-sponsored recreation programs and make recommendations to the Town Board concerning parks and playgrounds, recreational programs, and swimming pool procedures. Seasonal adult and youth activities are sponsored by the Town of Olive Recreation Committee and are run by the Recreation Director.
