RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13th at 9:00am

Ulster County will conduct a visual impact assessment“balloon test” on November 7, 2023, between theapproximate hours of 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., for its proposed Public Safety Radio Tower located at Tonche Mountain in the Town of Olive. In the event of poor weather conditions, or other factors require a rescheduling of this test, the alternative test date will be held on Monday, November 8, 2023 (or the first day thereafter that weather conditions allow for the completion of the test). In general terms, the balloon test will consist of flying brightly colored balloons having a minimum diameter of three (3) feet at the proposed tower location. The County has revised its proposal to add 40 ft to the existing tower and is now proposing to construct a new 135 ft. guyed tower radio transmission tower at this location on lands on Tonche Mt. (Pitcairn Estates/Mt. Rd) to meet its emergency communication needs for its simulcast communication system. The new site is approximately 250 ft south-east of the existing tower. The County is acting as lead agency under the State EnvironmentalQuality Review Act (SEQRA) and is seeking approval from the Town of Olive Town Board under the “Balancing of Public Interests”test to construct the tower. A copy of the SEQRA Environmental Form and the Project’s viewshed map and proposed photo simulation locations can be found at the Town of Olive website: https://townofolive.org/ulster-county-public-safety-radio-tower-tonche- mountain/ and is available by request from the Ulster County Planning Department c/o Dennis Doyle, 244 Fair Street, PO Box 1800, Kingston, NY 12402-1800 or emailed to ddoy@co.ulster.ny. us The public may also submit written comments to this address or to the Olive Town Board.
