Minutes of the Public Hearing of the Town Board of the Town of Olive held Thursday, November 4, 2021, 7:00 pm via ZOOM link. The purpose of the Public Hearing as stated in the legal notice was to hear all comments on any item or items in the 2022 Preliminary Budget.

Others Present: Janice Lanzarotta, Bookkeeper & Budget Officer; Amanda Winne, Deputy Town Clerk; Christopher Winne, OFD Chief; Tom Planz, OFD Treasurer

 

Supervisor Sofranko called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.

 

The Town Clerk acknowledged that the legal ad for this meeting was placed in the October 26th and October 28, 2021 issue of the Daily Freeman.

 

Supervisor Sofranko presented the 2022 Preliminary Budget to the residents in attendance. The 2022 budget came in at $6,226,267.00 the amount to be raised by taxes $4,860,166.00.

 

Supervisor Sofranko thanked Janice Lanzarotta for all her years of service to the town, and for her hard work on this budget.  He stated he is very proud of this budget.

 

Supervisor Sofranko opened the meeting to comments.

Highway Fund total appropriations increased                                    $6,107.00      ~ 0.2637%

 

Special Fire District appropriations increased                                       $12,550.00   ~ 1.8249%

 

Special Light Dist. (Onteora Court) increased                                        $50.00          ∼ 6.6667%

 

Total Budget appropriations increased                                                   $178,013.00   ~ 1.7643%

 

Amount to be raised by taxes

 

General Fund amount to be raised by taxes increased                      $40,301.00.  ~ 1.8874%

 

Highway Fund amount to be raised by taxes decreased                  ($17,764.00) ∼ -0.8876%

 

Special Fire District amount to be raised by taxes increased          $12,550.00.    ~ 1.8249%

 

Special Light District (Onteora Court) increased                                  $50.00      ∼         6.6667%

 

Total amount to be raised by taxes increased from 2021                 $35,137.00      ~ 0.7282%

 

Town tax rate

 

2022 rate for General Fund approximately                                           $1.68985 per thousand

 

2022 rate for Highway Fund approximately                                          $1.54074 per thousand

 

2022 rate for Special Fire approximately                                                $0.53481 per thousand

 

2022 rate for Special Light approximately                                              $0.18106 per thousand

 

Elected Official’s Salaries will be as follows:

Councilman (4)                                  $ 8,874

Justice (2)                                            $13,668

Town Clerk/Tax Collector              $61,200

Highway Superintendent              $65,000

 

There were no questions or comments on the budget from the public.

 

Janice Lanzarotta thanked the Town Board and commented that it was really good to work with them over the last few years.

 

All pertinent business having been conducted the Town Board adjourned for the evening on a Sofranko/Boggess motion at 7:16 pm.
